Fan"tache"tic Birthday card

I can't honestly say that I understand the popularity of the mustache in crafting these days. But I do recognize it. So, when I found a stamp for fabric paint the other day at Big Lots, and it had three mustaches on it, I had to bring it home and try it out with chalk ink. It worked fine.

I stamped these with black ink, trimmed around them, and then attached them to the tan mat. After I had completed the card, I decided to go back and jazz it up a bit with some Martha Stewart glitter. The finished product is simple and easy--but masculine and trendy.

The card is cut from Kraft cardstock. I used black to mat the design papers which are from Recollections.

It's Time for Another Birthday, Card 4 in Recent cards.

One more in the recent card collection--this time a masculine birthday card.

 



This A2 card is made from Tim Holtz Kraft Core paper pack, a really great stack. I used a Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) embossing folder that has a collection of clocks. I discovered that if I inked the bottom of a craft paint foam spouncer--the kind that has a wooden handle and a very flat edge on the sponge, I could rub the ink across the surface of the card and apply it to only the raised portions.
I embossed the light tan marbled paper then inked the clocks with a brick red ink. To complete the front, I added two strips, one in the mat paper and one out of Kraft paper. Then I added to metal brads and the sentiment, "It's time . . ." The inside reads "for another birthday. Hope it's the best ever.

I don't have the Stampin' Up stamp she used, but I have one that says the same thing. I switched up the color scheme, used Plantin Schoolbook to cut the circles, and embossed with a herringbone embossing folder. My card looks like this.

 

 

I put a navy shadow behind each circle. The teal and green papers are from a Tim Holtz Kraft stack. I placed two small ribbon loops on the right rather than the left. The inside sentiment reads, "Hoping those wishes come true today and in the future."

Cowboy Hat Birthday Card

Finally, I'm back with another video. I can't believe I've been away so long. I hope you enjoy this card especially for guys--of all ages. I used the Paper Doll Dress Up cartidge and printed papers from the DCWV Stack 8 Pack. Have a great day.

Award Birthday Card Especially for a Man

I wanted an easy card for a man. Thanks to some inspiration from Mary at Cardztv, I came up with this one. The award "ribbon" is on Plantin Schoolbook. What do you think of #19?

One Cute Frog, Two "Toad"ally Cards

I love frog / toad cuts that can work well in the expression "toad"ally. Create a Critter has a really cute one.  Dress it up or down, make the sentiment "'toad'ally sorry" or "'toad'ally happy," whatever you need. Hope these ideas from part 18 of the challenge are "'toad'ally helpful."

Airplane Card for Baby Boy

Number 17 of the challenge. This little airplane is perfect for a baby boy. It's part of the New Arrival cartridge and is both cute and easy to do. The blocks that spell "baby" are also really great. Hope you enjoy the card.

It's part 9 of the challenge. This time I've used Sports Mania which has some really clever cuts on it. I choose to use soccer, basketball, and football, but there are many to choose from. Pull out your cartridge and see what you can create for the sports enthusiast in your life.

My entry for the Dynamic Duos #13 monochromatic challenge features a soccer ball, basketball and football in a masculine birthday card. The balls and the penant are cut from the Sports Mania Cricut cartridge. I think a sports enthusiast would appreciate this card.

Rocket Birthday Card

Back with another masculine birthday card video, this time using the Nifty Fifties cartridge. This rocket is so versatile--birthday, congrats, new job,etc, and could be used with "far out," "way out," "out of this world," "reach for the stars" sentiments. Change up the colors and make it feminine. It might become one of my favorite cuts. Hope you enjoy it.

Masculine birthday card

I'm back from vacation just in time to make a send and few masculine b'day cards (three birthdays this week). The first is a red, white, blue theme with a classic bike on it.  The stamps are from Studio 211, and the ink from Tsukineko. The stripe paper is from Paper Studio. I'm putting it in the Freshly Made Sketches contest. After I stamped the bicycle, I ran it and the red strip through a Cuttlebug herringbone embossing folder.

Another belated birthday card

I can't really understand why birthdays that I know are coming seem to sneak up on me then pass me by. But they do. If you don't have my problem, you certainly could change this very easily to make it an "on time" birthday card. Hope you enjoy it.

Father's Day card--just in time

I'm not early with this card, but at least it's not Saturday night! I love the combination of red, black, and white--and all their shades.  Hope this inspires you as you find just the right idea for your dad or other special man. More pictures, #3--Father's Day card

Father's Day will be here before we know it. This card is for my dad.  I recently purcased the "Great Outdoors" Finshed in a Flash pack from Hot off the Press.  The papers and embellishments are very masculine. I know they're designed for scrapbooking, but they're perfect for cards, too. The card is a 5 x 7 from kraft paper. The envelope and the tag sticking out from it were included, but you could easily cut them from other paper. On coordinating blue paper in the pack, I wrote the sentiments and cut them out.  Placing them on dimensionals highlighted just a few of the things my dad has given me. Hope the card helps you with ideas to show your dad some love this Father's Day.

More pictures, #2--Masculine birthday card

It seems as though most of the men in my life have their birthdays and other big holidays in June and July. This card is for my brother who is turning 50.  I used the spider image from Cricut's Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. I think that the hat makes the spider look more like a guy. The image is cut in the blackout feature so that I could stamp the face (Peachy Keen Stamps) rather than have the cut out one. I added glossy accents to the eyes and an Action Wobble to the spider.  The inside sentiment is "Don't let it scare you!" I think it's both masculine and fun.

Speedy Recovery Card

This masculine-themed card is for someone recovering from surgery. Surprisingly, I didn't use Elegant Edges. This time I chose Nifty Fifties which has a classic car that works up very well. By changing the sentiment you could use this for any "manly" occasion.  Hope you like it.
